Mr Anderson stated, “I totally condemn the individuals responsible for this attack where a petrol bomb was thrown at a vehicle and a brick was thrown through a window of a property injuring a man inside.

“This incident would not only have greatly disturbed the individuals inside the home that was attacked, but also is very worrying for other residents in the area.

“The despicable individuals responsible for this evil attack have shown no regard for the safety of the people living in this area.

“Thankfully, the individual that was injured by the brick was quickly released from hospital and that no one else was injured.”

Mr. Anderson continued by stating,“This latest incident follows on from a number of similar attacks in the Banbridge area in the last few weeks.

“I recently met with the police to raise my serious concerns about the changes to policing structures in the area with no patrol officers now being based in Banbridge.

“Serious questions need to be asked whether or not this decision has left Banbridge being increasingly vulnerable to such attacks taking place. I now intend to have a follow up meeting with PSNI to raise my concerns.

It is now vital that the police apprehend those responsible for this attack and that they are swiftly brought to justice. Such people have no place in our society and their destructive intent to commit harm is something which we can never tolerate.

“If anyone has information relating to this incident I would urge them to contact the PSNI to assist with their investigations.”
