Police seized car from woman who had no insurance

When she was stopped for driving without having insurance a 27-year-old woman had her car seized, Banbridge Magistrates Court heard last Thursday.

Kelly Michelle Casey, Edenderry Park, Banbridge, admitted the offence which happened on November 4 on the Scarva Road in the town.

The insurance policy had been cancelled on September 8 and police seized the vehicle.

The defendant told the court she had a disagreement with her partner and had cancelled the insurance.

She also said she was in the process of selling the vehicle.

She added that a payment had been taken out of her account and she thought she was covered that month.

She did not get the vehicle back.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said that he would take into account what happened with the car and not impose a financial penalty.

He gave her a conditional discharge for 12 months and imposed six penalty points.
