Police dealt with 204 incidents

In a post on the PSNI Craigavon Facebook page police gave a rundown of their weekend.

They said: “For most people, the weekend starts at 5pm on a Friday. For some of us, that’s when our working weekend begins! So what does our working weekend look like?

“Here’s a few numbers from between 5pm Friday and 10pm Sunday. This covers Craigavon and Banbridge.

“We had 204 incidents which included: 12 domestics, six thefts, three Making off without payment (not paying for fuel), three missing people, one burglary, 15 assaults, seven non-injury road traffic collisions, 15 concerns for safety.

“We assisted our ambulance colleagues with seven calls about collapsed or ill people. Many of these involved drugs. We also assisted our fire service colleagues with a fire.

“We seized four vehicles for having no insurance.

“We arrested 21 people. Some were for multiple offences and included: a bench warrant, seven assault, one obstructing police, one resisting arrest, one dangerous driving, six criminal damage, two threats to kill, four disorderly, four drink drivers, one breach of bail, one breach of a non-molestation order, two drugs offences and one under the mental health act.

“We had calls about noisy parties, abandoned 999 calls, calls about suspicious vehicles, drunk people on roads, objects fallen off vehicles onto roads, people reporting nuisance calls.

“Oh, and we had a call about a pug which was found!”

The post added: “On top of all that there has been a lot of ‘self generated’ work. Tickets for driving while on mobile phones, disorderly behaviour, indecent behaviour and criminal damage which aren’t included.

“Of course, there was copious amounts of coffee and the odd Chinese.

“In short, a busy weekend. Some of it may surprise you and you might be thinking, “‘But that’s not what the police do!’ Think again. This is a snap shot into policing life day in, day out.”
