The site is within the confines of Solitude Park adjacent to Rathfriland Street Banbridge approximately 50m due east of Nos. 7 & 8 Park View Rathfriland Street.

A decision could be made on the planning application at the next meeting of the Planning Committee of the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council on February 10th 2016.

A public consultation meeting was held in Civic Building in Banbridge on Tuesday 9 June where local people attended to view the plans and have their say.

At this meeting it was stated that should planning be approved building will commence and the facility should be open by the end of the financial year.

The council were unable to confirm whether this is still the case as it depends on how long the planning application takes to be approved.

X-Move and Spraoi Linn are the companies behind the design of the new skate park while Precision Community Group, a group of urban sports enthusiasts, also worked closely with the council.
