Planning go-ahead for local company

New Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has announced that he is to recommend planning approval for a 3,000 square metre aircraft component manufacturing facility at Langford Lodge, Crumlin.

The site is a former RAF airfield and is currently occupied by Royal Logistics Corps Engineering Group Ltd who manufacture aircraft components. The company currently employ over 250 people on the site and following the recommendation to approve planning permission they hope to create new engineering posts within the new factory extension.

“This approval not only represents potential new jobs but also helps to secure the existing jobs at the site,” said Mr Durkan.

“I believe, as my predecessor did, that it is crucial that the planning system delivers decisions swiftly for key industries which provide significant employment in their local areas.

“As Environment Minister I not only want to protect the environment, but also do everything I can to create jobs and develop the economy. I am determined to make decisions swiftly with all planning applications under consideration in my Department and particularly decisions where job opportunities are at stake. However this is only after giving careful consideration to the individual merits of each case,” he concluded,
