Pot Belly reopens with help from Gel-Gem

As businesses and organisations begin to open their doors following the lockdown a locally designed and produced hands-free sanitising unit - Gel-Gem - is helping to boost public confidence.

Popular local Restaurant The Pot Belly in Tullyllish, which reopened it’s doors two weeks ago, is welcoming customers back thanks to a series of safe and sanitised measures installed in the historic venue over lockdown - including two Gel-Gem foot operated hand sanitisers.

Commenting proprietor Brian Jardine said: “It’s been a pleasure to welcome our customers back to the Pot Belly and to hear their positive feedback on our distancing and sanitising measures.

“Part of our measures to keep everyone safe includes our two Gel-Gem sanitising units which are front of house and at the entry to our separate upstairs restaurant and a new external covered space, our Terraced Bar.”

Gel-Gem came about at the beginning of lockdown when most businesses were closed said Raymond Fegan of construction and property maintenance company d7 Property Services.

“The amount of enquiries we received from business of all sizes led us to develop a solution to help the fight against Covid-19. “One of the early issues we identified and worked to overcome was the fragile nature of some sanitising systems being installed into entrances which took up considerable space and required regular monitoring and replacement.

“We wanted to design a hands-free unit which was locally produced, high capacity and which was built to last. Studying the market we believe that in offering a sturdy, solid and safe stainless steel construction which includes a gel level monitoring window, we’ve done just that.

“Gel-Gem comes in three different sanitising gel capacities - 4, 10 and a mammoth 17 litre version for higher footfall areas. They can be used outside and we are also producing bespoke ‘all ability’ models and models which include provision to store contact tracing details, order to meet the specific needs of our clients.

“Working to provide solutions for our clients across the local area, from small shops to the Boulevard Outlet and from churches to sports clubs we have been delighted with the feedback we have been receiving not only for our Gel-Gem’s but also for our new hand-friendly sanitising gel which we can supply wholesale.

“We are also delighted that every sale of a Gel-Gem unit supports the work of charity Kidney Care UK as they support local kidney patients which highlights the need to sanitise not only for ourselves but for those who are clinically vulnerable and at higher risk of infection.”

Concluding Brian Jardine said: “At The Pot Belly we are very proud of our historic roots and excited about once again welcoming our customers back to enjoy our locally sourced menu’s while at the same time taking the steps to keep everyone safe.”
