Newtownabbey pupil’s design to feature on Mayor’s Christmas card
Earlier this month the Mayor, Cllr Jim Montgomery put out an appeal to children in the borough to help him design his Christmas card.
With over 80 entries received, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor had a tough job deciding on a winner.

Hide AdHowever, Finn Maguire (8), a pupil at The Thompson Primary School was awarded as the overall winner and her winning design will be used for the Mayor’s Christmas card.
The Mayor said: “Both I and the Deputy Mayor were highly impressed with the creativity and talent portrayed in each of the entries received, thus making it more difficult for us to choose a winner.
“The winning design details all of the elements that we wish for at Christmas and what is important to us at this special time of year.
“Given that Christmas will look a lot different this year, it was important that the design would help spread some festive cheer. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who took part in this competition.”

Hide AdFinn added: “I was so happy when I found out I was the winner of the Mayor’s Christmas card competition, it was a great surprise and I am super excited to see the finished Christmas card.”
As part of the competition an additional seven winners, one from each of the District Electoral Areas will be announced at the council’s virtual Christmas tree light switch on events.
