The free family event will feature a bespoke model of Carrickfergus Castle made out of Lego bricks and displayed in the Museum and Civic Centre.

Visitors are invited to get hands on and rebuild the historic town, including the stunning Joymount palace and the medieval St Nicholas’s church. Just like Lego bricks, the focus will be on simple, straightforward fun through using the imagination to build.

The event will run from March 28 - May 18 in Civic Centre’s exhibition gallery, where a fabulous collection of iconic buildings from around the world and throughout history will be on display.

In the mall area will be a giant play mat showing a bird’s eye view of 17th century Carrickfergus, when it was a walled town and still one of the most important settlements in the north of Ireland.

Alderman Billy Ashe said: “This is a unique event which is coming to Carrickfergus and one that the entire family can get involved in. I would encourage everyone to come along while the exhibition is in place and put your creativity to the test. It is fantastic to see the Museum working with the Carrickfergus Townscape Heritage Initiative to deliver such a brilliant opportunity for all visiting families.”
