Bursary scheme for ABC athletes

Up-and-coming athletes aged 12 and over in the borough can now apply for a sports bursary to help with the costs encountered towards developing their skills and progressing their careers.

Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Sports Forum has teamed up with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for the third year running to offer financial assistance to support competitors in their own sports discipline.

To qualify, junior and senior athletes must show evidence of achievement at a high level and whose standing, when judged against World, British and Irish standards indicates potential to compete with credit at international level or with distinction in British and Irish Championships.

Awards can be made in two categories, Ambassador and Development, with each having their own set of eligibility criteria.

Not all applicants who meet the criteria will automatically receive an award.

Each application will be assessed on its own merits, allowing for greater flexibility within the confines of the overall budget.

The bursary application form, which must be completed in full and submitted by 5pm on Monday, January 4, 2021, is available to download atarmaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/sportsbursary
