Pedestrian ‘stable’ after accident

A pedestrian who was knocked down outside Banbridge in the early hours of Sunday morning and who is recovering at Craigavon Area Hospital has been described as being in a stable condition.

The road accident that he was involved in occurred when the male pedestrian was struck by a car on the Lurgan Road at Seapatrick.

When ambulance crews arrived he was then taken to hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the road collision to contact them.

Inspector Stephen Graham said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have seen this male walking on the Lurgan Road, Banbridge sometime between 12.15am and 1.45am or who witnessed this incident to contact Police at Banbridge on the non-emergency number 101.”

Councillor Glenn Barr also urged people to come forward and help the police with their enquiries. He appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the police. “My thoughts and prayers are with the young person and his family at this trying time,” he said. “I hope that he makes a full and speedy recovery. If anyone has any information that can be helpful to the police do contact them.”
