Former New-Bridge pupil Hilary Copeland is encouraging other alumni to get in touch with the school to send in photographs for inclusion in an exhibition covering the history of the college.

The week-long exhibition, commencing Monday, September 28 will complement a series of activities to mark 20 years since the school first opened its doors in September 1995, with, principal, seven teaching staff and 76 pupils.

Twenty years later the College remains oversubscribed with a current enrolment of 585 pupils and over 70 staff in employment.

The College continues to expand and work continues on the £4m investment for a new sports complex and additional classrooms. It also continues to lobby for financial support to secure land for additional playing fields, tennis court and hockey pitch.

Plans for the next phase of the school will also be on display along with video clips displaying archive information and memories from former staff, pupils and their families.

The exhibition will look back on the efforts and commitment of local parents who founded the college, who sought an alternative second level educational provision in the area.

Principal Anne Anderson said: “Our school foundations are built on relationships – pupil to pupil, teacher to pupil and teacher to parent.

“It is our integrated ethos, that sense of belonging and that capacity to care which has made our school the success story it is today.

She continued: “We hope to build on these strong relationships by reaching out to the network of New-Bridge alumni during this anniversary year, who are our best ambassadors for integrated education.

“We look forward to reminiscing with them over our past achievements as we also look forward to the exciting next stage of the school’s expansion.”
