Healing The Land is essentially a message of hope and healing and it is anticipated that thousands of people will crowd the town centre to hear the word of God.

This event follows a highly successful 2008 rally which took place between Desertmartin and Tobermore and organisers say it transformed lives and brought people to faith, helping them overcome obstacles from oppression to depression.

Organisers say they are full of excitement and anticipation to see what God will be doing in the area and they describe the event as ‘very significant.’

“Angus felt he had to come to Magherafelt, so we began a time of prayer,” says one of the organisers.

A large band parade had initially been organised for the same weekend but this was postponed. The organisers say that after continued prayer, the town centre was made available to them.

“We really felt this was what God wanted. We are expecting people from all over Ireland to attend in their thousands,” he said. And we’re praying for the weather to be good!”

Angus and his wife Jill initially came to faith in 1979, just two years after settling in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands, South Africa.

“Originally from Zambia, we bought a piece of land on which we planned to farm crops and livestock. We had very little to start with, but even as brand new Christians, we were content with our farm, which we later called Shalom,” he says.

“In November 1989 we felt the Lord call us to hire town halls and preach the Gospel, wherever He would lead. In 1990, we held our first campaign in Ladysmith, Kwa-Zulu Natal.

“I remember the feeling of pure excitement and anxiety as I walked into the municipal office to hire the town hall. Since then, we haven’t turned back, and our Lord has remained faithful,” he says.

After a successful event in South Derry in 2008, Angus is now set to return and organisers are anticipating ‘something amazing.’

“The boat is launched for it. It’s in the centre of the town - a neutral venue and the invitation is for everyone,” added one of the organisers. “On our logo is a flag and it has Jesus on it.”

Angus Buchan will be in Magherafelt next Thursday and Friday (June 12 and 13) at 7:30pm and everyone is welcome.

There will also be praise music for people to enjoy.
