Paddy will be missed in Laurencetown

PROFOUND sorrow spread over a wide area and indeed throughout the Laurencetown area when it was learned of the passing of Mr. Patrick Martin which occurred at Lurgan Hospital on Sunday October 14.

Paddy, as he was affectionately known to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him, was the dearly loved husband of the late Annie Martin who passed away 16 years ago.

They resided at 6 School Terrace, Laurencetown.

A native of Scarva he married the former Miss Annie Smyth and moved to the Laurencetown area. He was employed for a number of years with the DOE Roads Service and retired with health problems.

He enjoyed watching football and motorbike racing on television. He enjoyed a good bit of chat and socializing as well as gardening but his main interest was centred around his home and family.

He is survived by two sons Stephen and Paul and Stephen’s fiancée Joanne. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended. The funeral took place from his home on Wednesday to the family plot at Tullylish Presbyterian Churchyard.

A large representative of mourners came to pay their last respects and the Rev. Brian Martin in charge of Tullylish Presbyterian Church officiated at the home and graveside.

Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Patients’ Comforts Lurgan Hospital.

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
