Owned Corbet Filling Station

He was the dearly loved husband of Beth and was the devoted father of Sydney, Heather, Joanne, William and Hilda.

Sidney had just been diagnosed a short time before his passing.

A man of many sterling qualities, he was born and brought up in Moygashel. He was the son of the late William and Annie Kerr but had come to live in Ballynanny on his marriage to the then Miss Beth Jelly.

On coming to Banbridge he was the proprietor of Corbet Filling Station and made many friends in the district but nothing delighted him more than to be close with his wife, family and grandchildren. He was a member of 2nd Anaghlone Presbyterian Church and was a regular attender while health permitted.

He is survived by his wife Beth, his family Sydney, Heather, Joanne, William and Hilda, daughters-in-law Denise and Gemma, son-in-law Tim, grandchildren Ryan, Kerri, Sophie, James, Christopher, Evan and Molly, his sisters Sarah, Hilda, Jean and Ann. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place from his home on Tuesday for a service in 2nd Anaghlone Presbyterian Church at which his minister the Rev. Brian Martin paid a fitting tribute to Sidney’s life.

The hymns ‘The Lord’s my Shepherd’ and What a friend we have in Jesus’ were sung. Mrs Pauline Kirkland presided at the organ.

The interment took place in the adjoining churchyard.

Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Marie Curie Nurses and 2nd Anaghlone Presbyterian Church Building Fund. (Cheques made payable to William Bell and Co.)
