‘Outstanding achievements’ for Banbridge Academy GCSE pupils

The 2015 GCSE results achieved in Banbridge Academy were once again impressive.
Stephanie Rodgers; Brittany Sayers; Hollie Thompson; Orla Thompson celebrate their successes at GCSE. Between them, they scored 29 A* or A grades. Of the 192 pupils who sat GCSE examinations this year, 55.4% of all entries resulted in the top grades A*/A, and when B Grades are included this figure rises to 82.9%.

97.4 % gained 5 passes at A*-C, including English and Mathematics, while the overall pass rate of 96.1% confirms that all of our pupils have worked extremely hard to fulfil their potential.

There were many superb performances, however especially noteworthy were those of Charlotte Hawthorne, Beth McCullagh, Megan McCully, Orla Thompson, Roshni Johnson, Dhivya Suresh and Emma Warnock who obtained 9/10 A* grades.

A very impressive total of 49 pupils, over a quarter of the year group, obtained 9 A* or A Grades in 9 or more subjects.

Principal Robin McLoughlin said: “These results were produced by the talent, industry and commitment of our pupils, supported and encouraged by parents who today can feel justifiably proud of these accomplishments.

“We are delighted for all our pupils as these results reflect tremendous strength: we congratulate our young people on their outstanding achievements and wish them well for the future.”

He continued: “I should like also to commend my teaching colleagues who through their dedication, commitment and skill have produced these excellent results at GCSE in 2015, as well as the impressive A and AS Level results released last week.

“Our 2015 examination results reflect the excellent standards of teaching and learning that exist in the Academy and I pay tribute to the professionalism of my colleagues.”
