OUTLET UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

THE property managers of one of the biggest shopping centres throughout the UK and Ireland have taken over the management of the Outlet in Banbridge.

Glenrye Properties Services, which runs Dundrum Shopping Centre outside Dublin, was appointed to manage the tenants within the Banbridge shopping complex on January 1 this year.

A spokesperson for Glenrye, a Dublin-based company with 35 years experience in property management, said the Outlet is their first foray into managment of this kind in Northern Ireland.

He said, "We see a lot of potential with the Outlet Shopping Complex and we are very keen to get going with it this New Year.

"We will carry out an initial assessment over the next three months or so and then we will be in a better position to look at how to move the centre forward."

The spokesperson said there are a number of big names in the pipeline to fill the vacant units at the Outlet.

He said, "We will endeavour to continue and build on the success of the centre, which has seen particularly good trade from Southern shoppers of late."

Land Securities, which is still involved in Phase Two of the Bridgewater Park plan said their role as managers of the tenants in Phase One was always intended to be a short-term one.

commitment

The spokesperson failed to make a commitment to Phase Two of the Park in the wake of the Environment Minister's rejection of Tesco's planning application for the biggest supermarket in Ireland.

He said, "We are currently assessing our position with regard to Phase Two and the rejection of the Tesco proposal.

"At the minute we cannot say what our next step will be."
