Orange group to host WW1 evening

Orange Community Network will host a World War One historical talk in Shanaghan Orange Hall, Katesbridge, on Thursday 28th January at 7.30 p.m.

The talk will be provided by Andrew Charles and will focus on Ulster on the brink of war in 1914, at home and abroad, Ulster’s contribution to the war effort and how the impact of war in Europe impacted the ‘war’ raging back home.

The talk will cover the Ulster crisis, 1912 - 1914, the formation of the 36th Ulster Division in 1914, the Battle of the Somme, 1st July, 1916 and the events post-1918 leading to the formation of Northern Ireland.

Refreshments will be provided.
