Problems would mean road is never built

THE problem with Alderman Dillon’s suggestion for a toll road is that the money would still have to be put up by a private company who were prepared to take the risk of not getting their money back if the road was not used enough.

There don’t seem to be too many of those about at the minute.

It would also stifle the plans which have already been published for development on the route between Knockmore and Sprucefield.

Who would buy a house or set up a business if the only way to access it was by paying a toll every time?
