‘Go online and report street light problems’

Councillor Matthew Magill has urged the public to make full use of the Department for Regional Development’s new online reporting facility for faulty street lights.

“The new programme on the NI Direct website - www.nidirect.gov.uk - allows the public to report specific street lights in their area via an interactive map and enables them to log in and track TransportNI’s progress in fixing these faults.” Cllr Magill explained. “This new reporting facility is easy to access and use and hopefully it will create greater public engagement as we try to tackle the backlog of broken street lights.”

Meanwhile, North Belfast MLA Alban Maginness has said the DRD must ensure that broken street lights are repaired when people report them.

“In these days with limited hours of daylight it is vital that our streetlights are functioning and that when people do report faults they are dealt with as soon as possible,” he said.
