Old Tullyorior school opens for one night only

A NIGHT at the Old School Tullyorior will be held on Saturday June 16 at 7.30pm

The old school will be open displaying old photographs, school records and other artifacts, and featuring music by ‘Fireside Folk’.

Nominated charities for the evening are the Coronary Care Unit Craigavon Area Hospital and Cancer Research UK with proceeds also for conserving the local Heritage.

The school was opened in 1861 and closed in 1966. During this time hundreds of students passed through its doors. One of the last students to attend the school was Michael Devlin of Annaclone and he has many fond memories of his time at Tullyorier Public Elementary.

The school has been kept in its original state by its owner Paddy Joe McClory who was also a student at the school. Cissie McGivern is the oldest living person to have attended the school and she will soon celebrate her 100th Birthday.

Two past teachers of the school reached this milestone Miss Breige McKevitt and Mrs Kathleen McGivern.

Tickets are priced at £10, U16’s free. Everyone very welcome. To order tickets contact Caroline on 07738 234860, 028 4067 1399 or the Angler’s Rest. Limited numbers available. This certainly guarantees to be a memorable night with a spectacular opening arranged.
