Lillian was a member of Bannside Presbyterian

PROFOUND sorrow spread over a wide area when it was learned of the passing of Mrs. Lilian Conn which occurred at Glenview Private Care Home on Sunday last.

She was the dearly loved wife of the late Cecil Conn who predeceased her 32 years ago. She was the dearly loved mother of Janet, Carol and Donna and devoted sister of Peggy, Jean, Maud, Jim and the late Anna.

Lilian who was formerly Miss Lilian Dale of Mountpleasant, Banbridge. She was employed on the Clerical staff of Gilford Mill. She then married Cecil Conn from Scarva and went to work for Riddell’s Coal Store, Scarva Primary School and Baird’s Haulage, Scarva.

Four and a half years ago Lilian suffered a severe stroke but bore her illness with true Christian fortitude and had to have around the clock nursing care. She was tenderly cared for at Glenview Private Care Home at Drumnacanvy, Portadown.

Her main interest apart from her daughters and families was with Church activities at Bannside Presbyterian Church.

A number of years ago she sustained a great loss with the sudden passing of her brother Joe.

She is survived by three daughters Mrs Janet Little, (Loughgall) Mrs. Carol Burnett (Richhill) and Mrs. Donna Davidson (Loughbrickland), sons-in-law Nigel, Lawson and Ian, eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter Grace, three sisters Peggy (Seapatrick), Jean (Banbridge) and Maud (Canada) and one brother Jim (Banbridge), nephews and nieces. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place privately from her home 18 Mountpleasant, Banbridge on Wednesday last for a service in Bannside Presbyterian Church. The large congregation heard her minister the Rev. Dr. Mark Gray pay a fitting tribute to Lilian’s life.

‘The Lord’s My Shepherd’ and ‘What A Friend We Have in Jesus were sung. Mr. Alastair Mitchell presided at the organ. The interment took place afterwards in Scarva Presbyterian Churchyard.

Beautiful floral tributes were placed on the grave and donations in lieu are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Glenview Private Care Home and Chest, Heart and Stroke Association. (Cheques made payable to William Bell and Co.)

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
