He was the dearly loved son of the late James and Annie Mitchell. Wilson was brought up in Annsborough and moved to Banbridge at an early age.

He attended the Abercorn School and after leaving school he served his apprenticeship in the Home and Colonial and then in Burnetts Grocery Store. Here he formed the reputation of being one of the best grocers around.

He lost his only brother James a few years ago. He married Violet McAlister and had four sons James, Noel, Clifford and Jeffrey. Wilson was cut down with ill health and spent many years in Downshire Hospital, Downpatrick.

He then moved out of the hospital into Quoile Fold, Downpatrick and resided there for 14 years and then moved back to Iveagh Nursing Home where he was tenderly cared for.

He liked to keep his brain active enjoying Countdown, The Weakest Link and Pointless. He also enjoyed doing crosswords and word search. He was a member of the Church of Ireland.

He is survived by foursons, three daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren, great grandchildren and his twin sister Margaret (Australia). To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place from William Bell and Co. Funeral Home on Thursday 4th June when the Rev. Rosie Diffin officiated and gave an inspiring address.

The family is grateful for all the tender care that was given to him at Iveagh Nursing Home and Dr McCandless and all the help that was given to them by the Rev. Rosie Diffin, William Bell and Co. and others who had gathered to attend the funeral.

The interment took place in the New Cemetery. Family flowers were placed on the grave. William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
