No talent for life of crime

A 44-year-old woman was told last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court that she should consider not offending because ‘basically you’re not very good at it’.

Sheena McCartney, Drumellan Walk, Craigavon, was sentenced to four months in custody, suspended for two years, for a shoplifting offence.

She admitted stealing goods to the value of £129.63 from Tesco Extra on July 28 last year.

The court heard that the defendant was one of two females using a hand held scanner but left without paying for items worth £104.64 in bags. When items in a trolley were checked goods valued at £24.99 had not been paid for.

District Judge, Mr Desmond Perry, told McCartney that she had an awful record.

“You should think seriously of not committing offences because basically you are not very good at it,” he said.
