No movement on nursery

THERE’S no sign of Iveagh Primary School getting a nursery unit as the Southern Education Board reiterated its position on the development.

The matter came up at a meeting of the Board’s Pre-School Advisory Group, with a letter received by the Head of Development, Planning and Support Services.

Group members reiterated their previous view that there was not a need for the establishment of a unit at the school.

They pointed to the number of applications and places available after first preference for 2013-14 and in particular taking into account the additional capacity created at Bronte and Drumadonnell Nursery Units.

Members said the position would be kept under review particularly whenever reception ceased to be available.

The principal had expressed an interest in attending a group meeting but members indicated this was not normal practise.
