New-Bridge nuPower to showcase business

They developed the company through the Young Enterprise NI Company Programme over the past few months.

With the support of the NI Chamber of Commerce, the students from New-Bridge Integrated College will get the chance to develop their understanding of the economic principles of international trade at the 8th annual International Student Company Festival.

The festival is part of the Junior Achievement ‘Enterprise without Borders’ programme and is one of the biggest student company events in Europe, gathering together more than 100 companies and their business advisers from the all over Europe.

Each year the participants get to take part in a Trade Fair which is organised in Dominia shopping centre.

During the fair, a judging panel consisting of different field specialists evaluate the companies, which provides great experience and growth opportunities.

The students from New-Bridge Integrated College have jumped on the digital train with their product, developing portable electronic device chargers that are available in a range of colours.

‘nuPower’ has focused on Marketing as an important aspect of business development, competing against 30 other companies at a recent trade fair to win the Best Overall Marketing award.

Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said “NI Chamber is delighted to support these young students as they take part in education programmes which focus on entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy.

“The initiatives will help them develop the skills they need in order to operate within the global economy. We wish them well and are sure they will gain a lot from their participation.”

Young Enterprise Chief Executive Carol Fitzsimons also lent her support to the group. “These young entrepreneurs are flying the flag for us in Riga this year as Northern Ireland completes its year as EU European Entrepreneurial Region.

“We’re delighted that these students are taking the opportunity to be part of global enterprise and are learning the skills of export that we know the NI economy needs to develop. We wish them well as they aim to impress at the event.”
