Murder accused in court

A soldier was further remanded in custody charged with the murder of a Ballymoney-born orporal from a Shropshire barracks.

Lance Corporal Richard Farrell, 23, was accused of murdering Corporal Geoffrey McNeill, 32, who was found dead at Clive Barracks, Tern Hill, at 9amon Saturday, March 8.

Farrell, a member of 1st Battalion, The Royal Irish Regiment, whose address was give as Tern Hill Barracks was remanded in custody when he appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday.

He will next appear at Stafford Crown Court on March 26 and was remanded in custody until then.

Cpl McNeill’s three brothers, Jason McNeill,appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “Anything no matter how insignificant you think it might be. Share this in the hope that it can trigger someone’s memory or conscience, we will not rest until we get justice!”
