MS support support

LAGAN Valley MLA Paul Givan said this week he was delighted to support a recent motion on services for those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

"MS," said the DUP man, "can impact an individual in a number of ways, but symptoms commonly can include mobility problems, balance spasms and fatigue.

"I am pleased that the Assembly has backed the call for improved services for those suffering from MS and has recognised that although Northern Ireland has the highest proportion of people with MS anywhere in the world, at present the help and support that is needed from our Health service is lacking.

"This was also the message that I was getting from the many people from the MS Society who came up to Parliament Buildings for the debate.

"MS can be a life changing condition for those diagnosed, their partners, friends and family. Whilst there is no cure for MS, an early diagnosis and early intervention can help dramatically in improving someone's quality of life.

"It is now recognised that there is not an adequate provision of neuro- physiotherapists in Northern Ireland."
