Mother's shock AT brothel claims

A MOTHER-of-three whose Banbridge home was labelled as a brothel while she was on holiday has spoken of her shock and disgust at the allegations.

Linda Yardley’s Linen Fields house was splashed across the pages of a Sunday newspaper at the weekend alongside a picture of a woman who told the paper she was working as a prostitute from the quiet estate.

Ms. Yardley, 44, was on her way home from visiting her daughter in Manchester along with her two sons Lee (24) and 18-year-old Avtaar, when she got a call from a friend at home to say her house was in the paper.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Ms. Yardley, who is originally from Yorkshire, told the Leader. “My friend said ‘Your house is in the paper’ and I just didn’t know what was going on.”

The former textiles teacher who now works as a photographer and has been living in Banbridge for a year-and-a-half said she had received a call from a friend asking if she could stay in her house and had agreed to the request.

“When she asked to stay I told her it was no problem. But I just can’t believe this - I’m in shock.

“It’s my home. It’s me that’s disgraced but I

didn’t know anything about this. It’s disgusting.”

Ms Yardley said she called her friend on Monday but she told her she should just move out.

Lee said he had been inundated with text messages from concerned friends. “Loads of people have been sending me messages asking what’s going on and if I’m ok,” he said. “It’s embarrassing more than anything.”

Ms Yardley said she now intends to move out of the home which she rents as soon as possible. “I can’t stay here. I’m disappointed because I really liked it here but we can’t stay now. Everybody’s seen that story now and I just don’t want to go outside,” she added.
