More applause for primary school boost

THERE was more applause this week for news that £11.4m has been allocated for construction of Dromore’s new Primary School.

It came form Lagan Valley MLA Paul Givan, who said, “This announcement is long overdue, after years of campaigning by the school, and at last the go-ahead has been given.

“This issue has been raised at every level by local politicians and last year I led a debate on the issue in Stormont.”

The DUP MLA said special tribute must be paid to Dromore Central principal Mr. Jim Cochrane the Board of Governors for what he called their resilience and determination in the face of many setbacks.

“Ultimately,” he said, “this decision is about the children of Dromore and their future, to be educated in the best possible environment, with excellent teachers, and given the best opportunity to maximise their potential.”
