Ministerial visit for Greenisland
A funding boost could accelerate the delivery of a number of elements within the Greenisland Masterplan.
Consultancy group URS, who produced the development framework for the plan, indicated that three projects could be delivered to ensure “quick wins”.
These included environmental improvements to Glassillan Green, a tunnel upgrade and park and ride extension at the station, and the implementation of the ‘greenway’ between Greenisland and Monkstown. Work on the projects could begin immediately if funding was secured.
Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey is expected to visit the village in March to view progress on the scheme.
