John McCallister MLA, Independent Unionist for South Down, has urged the Agriculture Minister, Michelle O’Neill to put pressure on banks to provide flexibility for farming businesses.

Mr. McCallister said: “I asked the Minister what progress has been made with regards to banks providing increased flexibility to farm businesses. This is particularly pertinent for the dairy sector at the moment.

“The Minister reported her positive engagements with the banks at Christmas time and that she has written to them asking for an update on any progress they have made – this is to be welcomed.”
