Miles and Hanson set for the Bronte

THE Bronte Music Club welcomes performers Lynn Miles and Lynne Hanson for an exciting joint performance on Saturday May 15.

This highly talented Canadian duo will perform together for the first time at the Rathfriland venue, in what promises to be a great night’s entertainment.

Lynn Miles was born in Sweetsburg, Quebec, where she grew up in a musical home and began performing in public at around the age of 16. Her career has seen her release many varied albums. Her 1996 release “Slightly Haunted” was a Billboard Top 10 Pick of the Year.

“Unravel” (released 2001) was praised by critics with All Music Guide describing it as “sounding as if it's been produced by Daniel Lanois in an Appalachian town” and “a diamond in the rough.” The New York Times may have said it best: “Lynn Miles makes being forlorn sound like a state of grace.”

The other half of this duo, Lynne Hanson, was raised in Ottawa, Canada. Some call her music country, some call it roots-and-blues, others call it rough-around-the-edges folk. Lynne calls her musical style by her own name - porch music with a little Texas red dirt.

It’s a sound that’s been receiving rabid applause from enamoured critics and devoted fans in Canada, the US Southwest, Europe and Australia. Accompanied by fine instrumentation (acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, pedal steel and harmonica) and blessed with a soulful voice, Lynne is one of the most captivating female singer-songwriters on the Americana scene today.

Hosted by Banbridge District Council in conjunction with Frontier Promotions, this promises to be an evening not to be missed. Doors open at the Bronte Centre, Rathfriland at 8.30pm and the show commences at 9pm.

Tickets costing 12 can be purchased or reserved in advance by contacting Banbridge Tourist Information at the F. E. McWilliam Gallery on 028 406 23322.
