This weekend, September 5th and 6th, the Wild Geese Skydiving Display Team is taking part in Northern Ireland’s International Airshow, ‘Airwaves’.

Paul Dornan, Jump Team Leader at Wild Geese Skydiving, who is being sponsored by McCue Crafted Fit, has a special reason for organising the skydiving display, as he is fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society after his father was diagnosed with the disease.

The skydive is part of a number of fundraising events Paul is organising and taking part in, culminating with running the Berlin marathon on the 27th September. Derry/ Londonderry man Francis Mullan, Wild Geese Skydiving Display Team will be jumping at the ‘Airwaves’ event with the McCue Crafted Fit specially commissioned flag. Paul, originally from Belfast, and now living in Garvagh, has a fundraising target of £1,000.

Explaining why he is fundraising, Paul added: “I wanted to highlight the myriad of issues involved with dementia. After my father was diagnosed, I wanted to make a difference and push myself out of my comfort zone, like so many are when diagnosed with this debilitating disease.

“I have been fundraising for a number of months for the Alzheimer’s Society, all of which culminate in running my first ever marathon in Berlin, the fastest marathon in the world, at the end of September. I want to say thank you to Francis Mullan for jumping with the McCue flag and for the rest of the Wild Geese Skydiving Display team for their hard work leading up to the event.”

Carrickfergus based McCue Crafted Fit heard about Paul’s fundraising efforts and came on board as sponsor for the skydiving display. Les McCracken, Managing Director, McCue Crafted Fit explained: “One of our employees told us about Paul, what he was doing, and more importantly why. We just had to help out.

“It is important to McCue Crafted Fit that we support our wider community, and Paul really deserved some assistance given the challenges that he has set himself. We wish him the best of luck in his fundraising, and the McCue team will be at the Airwaves showing our support and cheering the team on!”

Paul Dornan added: “I am incredibly grateful to McCue Crafted Fit for their support, as every bit helps in the fight against dementia. There was no hesitation from Les and the team, and they were eager to help in any way possible. The money they have donated has really boosted my fundraising target, and I’m now only a small amount away, which is just fantastic!

“The Alzheimer’s Society is so incredibly close to my heart, and I’m hoping to raise a significant amount for them. I’m telling people, ‘remember before you forget’ to highlight how this disease affects people.”
