McCrea set to defend South Antrim seat

SOUTH Antrim MP William McCrea has been reselected as the DUP's candidate in the constituency for the forthcoming general election.

Dr McCrea received the unanimous backing of the party’s South Antrim Westminster Association at a selection meeting last week.

“I’m honoured that the Association has unanimously requested that I stand as the DUP candidate for the South Antrim constituency in the general election. I have sought to represent South Antrim faithfully over the past five years and through my three constituency offices have carried on a professional and effective constituency service to the people,” he said.

“I have sought to be an effective voice for the people of South Antrim and have done so having respect for my constituents and with the dignity this position demands. Over the past five years I have been actively engaged in the day to day problems faced by my constituents whether they are roads, housing, benefit, public safety, planning, pensioner, health, or agriculture issues etc. I have genuinely sought to get solutions to these bread and butter issues as well endeavouring to resolve other constitutional matters.

“I thank the people of this great constituency for their confidence in me and assure them if they renew that mandate at the forthcoming election I shall diligently represent them at Westminster with renewed vigour,” Dr McCrea added.
