Mayor’s civic dinner is a success

Guests included the Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Joan Christie; Lord Bannside and Baroness Paisley; Enterprise Minister, Mrs Arlene Foster; Dame Mary Peters and Freemen Seamus Close, Ivan Davis and Charlie Poots. Also in attendance were Minister Edwin Poots; local business and community representatives, sporting organisations and those within the educational sectors, elected members and family together with representatives from the Mayor’s Charity.

The Mayor said: “I would like to extend warm thanks to everyone who attended my civic dinner which is being held to mark my election as Mayor to the City of Lisburn.

“It was so good to see everyone.

“In my Mayoral address I wanted to thank everyone who has helped or assisted me in some way since I came to office.

“I particularly wanted to thank my wife Kathleen, who has been so supportive since I was elected Mayor.

“I would like to thank Mrs Foster for addressing my guests and I would like to thank everyone who gave donations to my charity, Stepping Stones on the night.

Delighted

“I was delighted to see Stepping Stones staff and trainees present on the evening.

“I felt it was a fitting occasion to mark 10 years of Lisburn having attained city status and in my address I covered some of the very positive changes that we have seen in Lisburn during that time.”

As a mark of respect to the Spence family, a minute’s silence was held at the beginning of the evening and the Mayor’s Chaplain led prayers for Scott Vineer.
