Mayor to hold tea party in aid of RNIB

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Darryn Causby is to host a '˜Tea for RNIB' party on Saturday 12 March.

The event will take place from 10am to 12noon at the Old Town Hall, Scarva Street, Banbridge and a warm invitation has been extended to local people who would like to help raise vital funds to support families affected by sight loss.

Lord Mayor Causby said: “Hosting a ‘Tea for RNIB’ party is a great way for our community to come together and raise vital funds to support RNIB’s services for people affected by sight loss in our local area, and across Northern Ireland.

“I am delighted to extend an invitation to come along and enjoy a slice of cake and cup of tea. Any donations will help make a difference to the lives of children and adults with sight loss in our local community and beyond.”

Ann Sterritt and Beverly Thom, local parents of children with sight loss and members of RNIB’s Banbridge Fundraising Group, are delighted that the Lord Mayor is hosting this event.

Ann said: “Last year RNIB provided emotional and practical support to over 4,000 people at the point of diagnosis and currently supports over 900 children and young people with sight loss and their families. RNIB is helping families like ourselves face the future with confidence. We are delighted that the Lord Mayor is supporting RNIB’s vital work by hosting this ‘Tea for RNIB’ party.”
