Alastair Copeland (32), Baird Avenue, Donacloney, admitted unlawful possession of a class B drug when he appeared recently at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

The court heard that on May 6 this year just after 10pm he was stopped while driving on the Belfast Road and police noticed the smell of cannabis coming from the car.

He handed over a small tin box which contained herbal cannabis.

He said it was for his own use. District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said Copeland had previous convictions for similar offences in 2006, 2007 and 2013.

He adjourned the case until August 28 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.
