Man faces serious sex offences

A Banbridge man is to go on trial for a number of serious sex offences involving two girls aged under 16.

Appearing at a Preliminary Enquiry at last week’s local Magistrates Court was Andrew Trevor Williamson from Dromore Street.

Summary charges including rape and engaging in a sexual act with a female under 16 were put to him as he stood in the dock.

The court heard that Williamson faces a total of 16 charges in total which allegedly occurred on dates unknown between 1 September and 31 October 2012.

A PPS Prosecutor asked for Williamson to be remanded in custody until 8 May when he will appear for arraignment at his trial on in Newry Crown Court.
