The court heard that police were called by a member of staff at Winemark concerned about the safety of the defendant who was feeling suicidal.

They found him on the Killycomain Road in Portadown where he was having a verbal argument with his sister and mother.

He was shouting and he ignored warnings from police about his behaviour.

As he was being arrested for disorderly behaviour he attempted to head-butt a police officer.

A solicitor representing Robinson said he had recently been given a probation order and was taking an alcohol management course.

He explained that at the time of the offences the defendant had been going through a rough patch with his partner.

Deputy District Judge Neil Rafferty said that the probation service indicated that the defendant was currently ‘dry’ and wished him good luck.

“You will not find an answer at the bottom of a bottle,” he added. “You have to take it one day at a time.”
