Man arrested for assaulting police asked them if they had a pool

PSNI in Craigavon had to tell a man they arrested '˜the Spa was closed to to budget cuts'.

Police were agog when a prisoner, after he was arrested, asked: “Do you’s have a pool here? I’d love a swim right now.”

A quick-witted officer promptly responded: “Nah mate we had to close the Spa due to budget cuts.”

While the prisoner retorted: “Aww. Did you’s really used to have a pool?”

Police revealed that early on Sunday morning they received a call about a male causing a disturbance in Donaghcloney.

On PSNI Craigavon Facebook they said: “Not a great start to his Sunday. He continued his day of bad choices by coming at the first officers on scene armed with a couple of metal bars. Thankfully some cool headed policing meant that he got to go to custody (albeit minus the pool!) rather than hospital.

“He was arrested for assault on police, disorderly behaviour, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage. Oh and to top his bad decisions, he did all this whilst on court bail.

“Apologies to the residents of Donaghcloney who had to put up with that. Not the best accompaniment to a fry and the paper we know, but some people will never learn.”
