Man (22) on riot charges

A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded in custody to Maghaberry prison while facing charges in relation to a riot at the Scarva Road in Banbridge on Wednesday night.

Stephen McPolin of Edenderry Park in Banbridge appeared in court today facing charges of riotous behaviour and attempted criminal damage of a police vehicle.

Mr McPolin will appear via video link at Banbridge Court sitting in Newry on August 16.

A 15 year-old girl is due in court on Monday August 20, while a 21-year-old man will appear on August 30.

Another man, aged 28, was arrested after the incident but later released on police bail pending further enquiries.
