Make a will and support Hospice NI

A local solicitor’s office is delighted to be supporting the Northern Ireland Hospice by participating in its ‘Make a Will Fortnight’, which runs until March 31.

Eamonn McEvoy and Co. Solicitors will not be charging any fee for their will-making services during this period, and will instead be encouraging clients to make a discretionary donation to the Northern Ireland Hospice or the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

Richard Palmer, President of the Law Society urges the local community to get involved in this campaign. “We are delighted that Northern Ireland Hospice is our Charity Partner this year and we would encourage members of the public to support this worthy campaign.

“Writing a will is the most important thing you can do to protect your family and loved ones.

“If the unthinkable happens and you pass away without having an up-to-date will, your loved ones may face further heartache as they may have no choice over the division of your belongings and your estate would be distributed according to current legislation.”

Sharon Gorman, Legacy Officer at Hospice NI added: “Hospice care is free to thousands of adults, children and young people we care for each year, but with annual running costs of over £9 million and limited government funding we rely heavily on the support and generosity of the local community.

“Taking part in Make a Will Fortnight would make a tremendous difference to the lives of hospice patients across the province.

“For example, amending your will during this particular time at one of the participating solicitors and donating £30 would enable us to fund one hour of specialist nursing care.”
