Cubis’s director of international sales, Cian Cantwell, said it was ‘tremendously encouraging business for us in a different sector’.

“The business was secured following our participation with Invest NI at the GITEX 2014 technology trade show in Dubai last October,” he said.

“It was an immensely positive show for us. We benefited enormously from the advice, experience and very practical support from the Invest NI team in Dubai before, during and in the months following the exhibition. Interest that the Invest NI team helped generate meant that we were exceptionally busy during the show.

“We see the new business as an important reference site for our products, experience and expertise for other potential clients in the UAE and many other international markets.”

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster welcomed news of the contract.

She said it was a ‘tremendous boost for manufacturing in Northern Ireland’.

Ms Foster said the contract was a new business sector for the company which has already supplied products to Dubai and to the oil industry in Oman.

“The new contract is a further example of the scale of business opportunities in the UAE for Northern Ireland companies prepared to invest in growth in global markets,” she said.

Sam Gardiner MLA has congratulated Cubis Industries of the Silverwood Industrial Estate in Lurgan for winning a six figure telecommunications contract.

“This is great news for the local firm and for the 122 people it employs. It is good news for the town of Lurgan and for Northern Ireland. This also represents success in a new and potentially huge market for them. Well done!

“Northern Ireland businesses are world beaters and foreign markets are where large scale success is possible. Cubis is an excellent example of enterprise. It shows just how important it is for the Executive to foster business geared to export.”
