Louie had a warm and caring personality

A sense of profound sadness was expressed in the Banbridge district with the passing of Margaret Louisa Henry (nee Ewart) who died at home on Tuesday September 14 in her 93rd year. Louie was in failing health over the past few years.

She moved to Banbridge in 1977 with her husband Nathaniel when they retired from their farm at Jerrettspass.

They built a loving home in Banbridge where everyone who visited was sure of a warm welcome.

Her funeral took place at 1st Drumbanagher and Jerrettspass Presbyterian Church, where she worshipped for over 63 years, on Thursday September 16.

A large congregation attended a testament to her warm and caring personality that was evident to all who met her.

Rev F Gibson, who gave a personal account of his friendship with Louie and her strong Christian faith that never wavered over the many years he knew her, conducted the service.

His address centred on Anna - another strong lady from the bible.

The congregation sang the hymns “The Lord’s My Shepherd” and “Abide With Me”, accompanied on the organ by Alison McCartney.

Louie was interned in the adjoining Church graveyard beside her husband who preceded her by 24 years.

She is survived by sons John, Joe, Gavin and daughters Joan and Lynn. Daughters-in-law Arlene, Aurel, Sharon and sons-in-law Jackson and Norman, her 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren will miss their much-loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

William Bell and Co of Banbridge carried out the funeral arrangements.

The family have requested that donations be made in lieu of flowers to 1st Drumbanagher and Jerrettspass Church Property Fund via William Bell and Co at 23 Kenlis Street in Banbridge.
