DUP Councillors have congratulated Loughbrickland Royal British Legion on reaching its 85th birthday.
Some of the Royal British Legion members attended an event hosted in Banbridge Civic Building to mark the occasion.
Speaking following the event Cllr Carla Lockhart said: “As a proud member of the Royal British Legion I am always delighted to play a small part in such celebrations.
“Eighty-five years in existence is no mean feat and I would commend the officers, and members who have given so much to this club over the years.
“The Royal British Legion have led the way in provision for serving and ex-service personnel and their families.
“It was interesting and informative to learn of the history of Loughbrickland RBL and I know that this club given the commitment and energy to preserve it will be in existence for many, many years to come.”
Also commenting, Cllr Paul Greenfield said: “As a local Councillor for the area I would pass on my congratulations to the RBL group.
“In a small rural village it is encouraging to see a committed band of people whose focus is to help those personnel and ex-service personnel who have and continue to serve Queen and country.
“I wish the club well for the future and look forward to working with them as they seek to preserve and grow the club in the coming years.”
