At a recent meeting, cheques for £5,000 were each presented to Tiny Life, Southern Area Hospice and Donegal Well Mindness. The money was raised following a concert held by Daniel O’Donnell in Seapatrick Parish Centre.

Whilst Tiny Life and the Southern Area Hospice are well known locally, Donegal Mind Wellness is a charity set up by Daniel’s wife Majella which offers invaluable support to those suffering from anxiety, depression etc, in and around County Donegal.

Some 460 people filled the Parish Centre and were treated to a most professional and entertaining performance by Daniel. He sang many of his old favourites and had his audience singing along and cheering him the whole way through. Although he was not coming off the stage until 11pm, he still stayed in the hall for a couple of hours signing autographs, having photographs taken and mingling with his fans.

At the conclusion of the concert, Club President Lynda had the honour of presenting certificates to Daniel bestowing Honorary Membership of the Banbridge Club on him and Majella. This is a unique award and is only given to those who have given service in the pursuit of the furtherance of the ideals of Rotary.

The proceeds of the evening were further increased as a result of a raffle when £1,500 was raised. This was a tremendous success and was achieved not only because of the support of all those present, but also the generosity of many local businesses and individuals.
