Local councillors aim to improve dog fouling problem

DUP Cllr Carla Lockhart and Cllr Junior McCrum are determined to improve on the plague of dog fouling in Havelock Park area.

After being contacted by concerned members of the public they issued a joint statement. They said: “This has been an ongoing problem in this area. It is a terrible blight on a beautiful walk and people are rightly fed up and disgusted at dog owners who do not clean up after them.

“We have been in contact with the council and are pleased to say that a deep clean of the area has taken place and there will be a concentrated effort on trying to catch offenders and fine them via the Council’s policy on littering in a public place.

“We will be watching with interest this are and will be working with Council officials to tackle it appropriately.”
