Local cadets given ‘four star’ honours

Star performances have put Cadets from Banbridge and Dromore centre stage this month as they collected awards and earned recognition at a ceremony hosted at Queen’s University Belfast.

Presenting the certificates and badges which mark the award of Four Star status within the Cadet movement were Colonel Michael Murdoch, Deputy Commander 38 (Irish) Brigade and Colonel Maurice Warnock, Commandant of 2nd (Northern Ireland) Battalion Army Cadet Force, who congratulated the recipients on their success.

Colonel Warnock said, “Four star awards formally recognize achievement and progress within the Cadet movement and their presentation allows us all to recognize the hard work and commitment needed to reach this standard.

“The Banbridge and Dromore Cadets honoured at this ceremony can be proud of the skills they have acquired across a wide range of Cadet activities and I am confident that the associated disciplines of leadership, teamwork and self reliance will be of considerable importance and value to them as they complete their studies or enter the workplace.

“My congratulations and thanks go to those hugely committed Adult Instructors.”
