'˜Little Grey Fergie' is 70 years old

A special event will be held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the '˜Little Grey Fergie' tractor, in Hillsborough.

It is the main theme of the Larchfield Community Development Association’s Family Fun Day and Vintage Rally, which will be held on Saturday, September 10 at 136 Windmill Road, Hillsborough, close the homestead of the inventor of the Ferguson tractor, the late Harry Ferguson.

In addition to the ‘Little Grey Fergies,’ organisers invite all vintage vehicle enthusiasts to bring along and display their carefully nurtured and restored vintage/classic vehicle, machine, car or motorcycle.

Towards the end of the afternoon there will be a road run for both vintage and classic vehicles. Children’s free entertainment includes a magic show, children’s arts and crafts, duck fishing, child friendly tractors, donkey rides and cup cake decoration.

There will be exhibitions on 70 years of the Ferguson Tractor and the post-war kitchen; threshing and bailing display, Glenda’s Knits, Genelle’s Home Bakes, Forever Living products, Ulster Wildlife, Military Vehicles, Spinning, Rare-Breeds animals and Auto Jumble.

Fresh hot and cold food served all day in Bobby’s Burger Bar and Valerie’s Catering Emporium. Music supplied by Billy McFarland and Trevor Dixon.

This year’s charity is Friends of Parkview School, Lisburn and during the day the principal James Curran will share the vision and activities of the school.

Vehicle Registration from 10am, £10.00 including refreshments. Admission £5 from 11am. Under 18s free.
