Lily, a cheerfulwoman and keenanimal lover

Lily was in her 93rd year and was a woman of a cheery and friendly disposition.

Just recently her sister-in-law Mrs Ruth McAllister passed away but previous to this she had lost two children early in her married life.

She tragically lost her son David due to a car accident and then Samuel just over 13 years ago.

She was left a widow when her husband John passed away in 1985, but being the woman that she was, she carried on through her adversities.

She worked as a textile worker in Ballievey Bleaching Company and then in Gilford Mill, where she won the respect of all her fellow workers.

She was tenderly cared for in the last years of her life by Trevor and Christine Hylands and this gave her great comfort.

Being an animal lover she enjoyed the company of her Collie dog Lassie and was a member of Annaclone Parish Church.

She is survived by her sister Winnie (England), Trevor and Christine. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place from her home on Tuesday for a service in Annaclone Parish Church. The hymns ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘What a Friend We Have in Jesus’ were sung. Mr William Chambers presided at the organ.

The interment took place afterwards in Aghaderg Parish Churchyard, Loughbrickland.

Beautiful floral tributes were placed on the grave.

The Rev David Palmer conducted the services at the home, church and graveside.

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
